2023 Holiday Tree Collection

Holiday tree curbside collection will be starting on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Please place the tree at the curb and remove all lights or decorations; trees with decorations or lights on them  will not be collected. 

Week of January 2

  • Normal Collection Day: Monday, Tuesday |  Scheduled Collection Day: Tuesday, January 3
  • Normal Collection Day: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday |  Scheduled Collection Day: Friday, January 6 

Week of January 9

  • Holiday Trees will be collected for all days of the week on Friday of this week, January 13 

Week of January 16

  • Holiday Trees will be collected for all days of the week on Friday, January 20  

2023 Holiday Schedule

Trash, recycling and yard waste will be picked up on a normal schedule for holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday. Services will be delayed one day for holidays falling on a weekday.  If a holiday observed is not listed below, services will continue as normally scheduled.  The list of holidays observed can be found here:

All collections must be placed at curbside the night before collection day. There will be an extra charge if we return.

Refuse Collection (Everyday Household Refuse)

  • Absolutely no yard waste with household refuse.
  • Household waste must be bagged and tied. No yard waste.
  • Call to make arrangements for extras. Carpeting, appliances, furniture, remodeling materials, etc. is extra over weekly limits.
  • Hazardous waste will not be picked up. You must call Kent County Offices to make other arraignments.
  • Latex Paint cans can be accepted, but paint must be dried out and can lids removed.
  • Bags of Refuse may not be larger than 32 gallons or 30 pounds. Cans maybe used. Weight limit still applies.
  • Animal Waste: Cat litter and dog waste must be bagged.

Recycle Collection (Do not place recyclables in plastic bags)

We accept only these items for recycling. Please follow the directions.

  • Plastic containers stamped #1 thru #7: Including milk jugs, water bottles, peanut butter jars, butter tubs, yogurt cups, plan flats, prescription bottles. All must be cleaned. Caps, lids and rings are to be removed and discarded with refuse. No Styrofoam.
  • Plastic Grocery Bags #2 & #4 only: remove coupons & receipts. Must be clean and dry. No other plastic bags accepted.
  • Glass: Clear and colored food and beverage containers. All must be cleaned. Caps, lids and rings are to be removed and discarded with refuse. No windows, ceramics or drinking glasses.
  • Metal: food and beverage containers, pie tin, aluminum foil, empty aerosol cans with cap, nozzle and labels removed. All must be cleaned.
  • Mixed paper: Newspaper*, brown bags, magazines*, junk mail, paperboard (ex. cereal boxes), computer paper, shredded paper.

*Note: Newspapers, magazines and catalogs only may be placed in brown paper grocery bag. Do not use string, twine, top, etc.

You must call the office to request this service. Do not place recycling with refuse at the curb.
Do not place recycling in cans, carts or barrels unless clearly marked “Recycling” in large letters.

Personal garbage container may be used for recycling.

Place recycling on opposite side of driveway from refuse.


  • Yard & Garden: weed killer, fertilizer, rodent & bug poison, charcoal lighter fluid, pool chemicals, deck cleaner & sealer.
  • Home Improvement: oil based paint & stain, wood preservative, cleaning products, metal & wood polish, paint thinner, adhesive & glue.
  • Miscellaneous: fluorescent light bulbs, mercury thermometers & thermostats, batteries (household), fire extinguishers, aerosol cans.
  • Metal: food and beverage containers, pie tin, aluminum foil, empty aerosol cans with cap, nozzle and labels removed. All must be cleaned.
  • Swimming Pool Covers, liners or wading pools.
  • Automotive parts or scrap metal.
  • Swing Sets, Lawn Furniture, Chain link fencing.
  • Building or remodeling scraps (aluminum doors, windows, siding or nails).
  • Broken Windows, dishes or drinking glasses.

Yard Waste (Yard Cart Service & Sticker Service Available)

  • Absolutely No Trash – It is against the law to mix yard waste and trash!
  • Yard waste must be placed at curbside by 5:00am on collection day. There will be an extra charge if we return.
  • You must call office each year to be placed on yard waste route if using yard stickers or are a new yard waste customer.
  • Two ply paper yard waste bags must be used.
  • Yard waste items collected include leaves, shrubs clippings, grass clippings, vines, branches under 2″ in diameter and no longer than 3 feet.

Brush

  • You must call the office and make arrangements for pick up. There will be an extra charge.
  • Brush cannot be larger than 4″ in diameter and 3′ long. Absolutely no shrubs.
  • Brush must be neatly stacked with larger end toward the road.

Christmas Trees

  • You must call the office and order pick up prior to collection day. There will be an extra charge.
  • Christmas trees will be picked up during the month of January only. Call for schedule.
